McCaw Media is a collaboration between husband and wife, John and Jill McCaw. Their different skill sets complement each other. John creates glorious images, Jill well-crafted words. Together they can provide everything you need for brochures, advertising material or newsletters. John’s images have appeared in books, on calendars, brochures and even on the back of a bus. Jill’s words have graced the pages of national newspapers and are read regularly by aviation enthusiasts world-wide.

John McCaw has played with cameras all his life. As a teenager he converted his father’s office into a dark room. On meeting Jill he was delighted to discover that she too had a SLR camera, although he has since converted her to Nikon gear. John has a farming background and works as an agronomist, selling grain, seed and expertise to farmers for Luisetti Seeds. He travels everywhere with his camera and finds many occasions during his ‘day job’ to record farming and landscape images.

Nephew Richie McCaw’s success in the rugby world has only encouraged John in his interest in the game and photographing rugby games is a natural progression.

Gliding is a passion for the whole family and John’s photos of gliders are stunning works of art.
Jill McCaw is an award winning author, co-winner of the Christchurch City Council Heritage Week essay competition 2015 and winner of a prestigious, NZ Society of Authors mentorship in 2015 which has allowed her to progress her first novel to publishable standard.

Jill is also a glider pilot. Her first forays into published writing were for The NZ Gliding Kiwi, the then, official journal of the NZ Gliding Association and for runner of SoaringNZ. She says that taking on the contract to edit and publish SoaringNZ in 2007 was a dream come true. Both of John and Jill’s sons also fly gliders, making it a truly family affair.

Jill trained as a nurse on leaving school. She is passionately interested in environmental sciences and has a BSc from Lincoln University. Her CV is diverse, with jobs ranging from governess in a travelling circus, to entomology technician, to writer of cooking columns. She is a self-taught writer who has found a successful niche in aviation journalism but also writes murder mysteries, erotica, and science fiction.
